“Doghouse Dave” is a professional musician who plays the upright bass (sometimes called the “doghouse bass”), as well as the electric bass guitar and the tuba, for American roots acts such as Eric Golden, Union Gray, Rodney Rice, Anthony Russo, Tyler Howell & The Country Club, Jeff Cramer, Slim & The Perkolators, James Day & The Fish Fry, Dave Orban & The Mojo Gypsies, Johnny Never, and Parlour Noir.
In 2023, he was invited to join the Flying W Wranglers, a Western singing group who perform mostly at the nightly chuckwagon suppers held at the Flying W Ranch in Colorado Springs. He still performs with the Wranglers from time to time.
Dave also plays the guitar, and from 2003 to 2022, he performed the part of Johnny Cash’s iconic guitar player, Luther Perkins, for various Johnny Cash tribute acts such as Boy in Black, David Stone: The Johnny Cash Experience and Joe Staffieri.
His many years and wide range of experience along with his work in production make him a solid session musician, whether on stage or in the studio, and he is available to help take your project to the next level.

As the owner of Widget Studios, Dave loves meeting new musicians and working with them to help realize and capture their best performances. He has been producing an extremely wide variety of records since before he started Widget Studios in 2004, going all the way back to the early 90’s when he made recordings on his father’s quarter-inch 2-track reel-to-reel tape machine.
Over the years, his love for music and sound technology has evolved, along with the opportunities given him, into a love for all things production, whether music, sound, or video. And he has found himself in high demand as a freelancer doing any one of the three. But you will find him in his most beloved state when doing all three at the same time. Producing content for musicians is his absolute first love.

Dave mostly works as a freelancer in the film and video world doing things such as production sound or camera op or lighting. His work can be found all over the corporate world and even in the indy film scene.
Because of his aptitude for all things production, Dave does not shy away from any project. Even if it is something he might be a little less experienced with, he will do the research necessary, give it his due diligence, and figure out the way to make your project be the best that it can be.
