Rehearsal Recordings

What is a rehearsal recording session?

Rehearsal Recording sessions are a great way to capture performances without the usual drawbacks of a typical recording session. You will enjoy this type of session for its quick set up, fast turnaround, low cost, and no-nonsense, super-chill feel.

How does it work?

You will run your rehearsal like normal in Studio B using the PA/mics and as much of the house backline as you prefer. Our engineer will mic up the instruments and take split lines from everything going to the PA and record up to 16 individual isolated tracks while you play. Meanwhile, the engineer will also live-mix/master each tune so that at the end of the session, you will get an unlimited number of 2-track master recordings in both WAV and MP3 formats for immediate listening, post master, and/or distribution.

What will it sound like?

Well, some of that depends on you… But we will mic everything minimally and use a mic splitter for anything going into the PA. Everything will be run straight into the console, and the only compression will be the mastering processor on the mix bus just before the 2-track master recording.

How much recording time do we get?

For 2 hour rehearsal sessions, you can expect to get about 1 hr of recording time in, maybe a little more. For a 3 hour rehearsal, you can get up to 2 hours of recording time.

How much does it cost?

Right now, you can get this service for a promotional price of $50 in addition to the cost of your rehearsal.

How do I book a rehearsal recording session?

You should begin by contacting us either via email or phone (text is cool, too). Let us know when you would like to book a rehearsal recording session. We will confirm that we have an engineer available for that time, and book your session. When you arrive to the studio, you’ll pay the $50 fee either with cash or Venmo.

How do I get my files?

There are a few ways we can deliver your files to you, but the best way is to bring a drive with you. Typically any USB hard drive, solid-state drive, or thumb drive with at least 32GB of available memory should be large enough to store the session files. Our engineer will stop recording with about 20-30 minutes left in the session to allow enough time to convert and transfer the files.

Can we overdub some parts?

No. All recording is continuous and done live. There will be very little interaction with the engineer other than set up and tear down. After your rehearsal recording session, you may book a studio session to come in and record overdubs, but this will be subject to our normal Studio A session rates.
